After one or two kernel compiles I noticed the memory allocation changing, e.g

bzImage size: 1401 1325
Kernel code: 1930k 1817k
Reserved: 12380k 12224k
Data: 835k 800k
Init: 100k 176k

In general the difference between the 2 kernels is more options compiled as modules.

I've had a look around here and have googled briefly, but can't seem to find a 'simple' answer as to what each of the different allocations actually mean. Anyone know the answer?

Fractoon

PS. Anyone know how to display tabular (fixed width) info?
