Another possibility is a firm that uses Gentoo on a large cluster. Gentoo seems tailor made for cluster-based supercomputing. Compared to the cost of a commercial solution, maybe it is dirt cheap for them to sponsor Gentoo so that it doesn't go under. |

From some discussions on -core, my understanding is that:
- The sponsor wishes to remain anonymous at this time and
- They're a startup company
So, my guess is that few people have ever heard of this company.

Maybe it's Transmeta? Linus was a key member of their board and wouldn't it be nice to see him showing us a little favoritism?
