Whenever I start XOrg (latest version) with the nvidia driver in my xorg.conf, I get a black screen, and it just hangs there. I can't get back to the console, CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work, either. Unfortunately, I can't get much for an xorg log, either (but I can post what I get if someone needs it).
I've tried not compiling the AGP kernel support into the kernel and using the NVAGP with the driver, I've tried different combinations of kernels and nvidia drivers and nothing seems to do anything. However, if I use the "nv" driver, things work just fine.
I don't know if it's relevant, but I noticed earlier today that gcc had updated to 3.4.3, and I kept getting the "libstdc++" error and had to fix that with gcc-config. Ever since then when I did a reboot to update the kernel and drivers, things went south.
Another tidbit: nvclock now hangs, too when displaying the card's speed.
[edit]After recompiling nvclock, it now works. This is becoming frustrating. _________________ It's fun to take a trip
