Hello. Firstly, I'm running an emachines m6805 and I isntalled 2004.3, as I couldn't get 2004.2 to work. Anyway, After I installed, I rebooted (using kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r1) and it froze after the message " mice: PS/2 Mouse common for all mice". So, I booted the CD, chrooted in, rebuilt the kernel wiithout the mouse stuff and tried again, but got the same results. I've since upgraded to kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r3, but still get teh exact same results. Also, vesafb wouldn't work... I hae to use the radeonfb stuff to get the frame buffer to go.
About the only thing I haven't tried yet is disabling ACPI in the kernel. Any ideas/thoughts/questions are welcome. Thanks!
