|
|
Hi,
Does anyone know if the gstreamer jack plugin (a la this link ) is in portage?
I can't find it in any of the gst-plugins-* packages, and obviously I have the base gst-plugins and it doesn't seem to be installed.
It would be really nice to have rhythmbox working through JACK.
At the moment Im even having trouble with rhythmbox through alsa so I have to use 4front oss drivers for when I want rhythmbox and then switch to alsa drivers for jack + ardour...
I just wanted to check its not somewhere obvious - if it's not ill file a bug report requesting an ebuild... |

Someone else asked this recently, and my own opinion is this doesn't
really exist or died. It would be nice if someone searched the
gstreamer list for any activity on it. |

Apparantly the plugin isn't that great...
Any apps that are to use it have to be written to support it explicitly...
The app I was insterested in (rhythmbox) isn't so it wouldn't work anyway.
An alternative solution that _should_ work is to use the alsa output for gstreamer and then the
alsa jack plugin .
After applying a patch I thought I had this working...
I can set the gstreamer output to "alsasink device=jackplug" and the test signal in gstreamer-properties plays correctly through jack...
However rhythmbox doesn't play giving two errors, alternately...
"Could not start pipeline playing"
and then
"Failed to close audio output sink"
whenever I try to play a file...
I was a bit stumped at this point and kind of gave up... but if anyone has any ideas... |
