gnome freezing

Please help me to even diagnose my problem.

Gnome is randomly freezing on me. It happens most ofter when the screensaver is running but I've also had it happening in general use. I think it's a graphic problem of some description because of the problems whule the screensaver is running. I can't seem to find anything in the logs, but if someone could tell me where to look.

I'm running an HP NW800, ATI graphics card etc.
