Network ends after couple of minutes of use.

I just installed kde and when i use the konquer web browser it will work for a few minutes then my network ends. i am using the axnet_cs for my pcmcia ethernet card. i was also having the same problem when i was emergeing kde so i had to do the fetchonly argument before my connection would end. if anyone can help it would be appreciated.
