I have three alsa sound devises :
ALSA device list:
#0: Brooktree Bt878 at 0xda005000, irq 5 // its sound output is conected to #2 microphone in
#1: VIA 8235 at 0xec00, irq 5 // i have headphones conected to it
#2: Sound Blaster Audigy (rev.3) at 0xd400, irq 11 // 5.1 surround speakers connected to it
And i need to setup programs like : mplayer, xmms, ogle, aviplay, tvtime , xawtv , to use the apropriate one.
So i need to do this with your help :
mplayer aviplay and ogle to use #2 sound card
tvtime and xawtv to use sound from #2 microfone in and video from bttv
make up two xmms programs one using #1 for headphones , and another using #2 |

Finding ACTUAL info on multicard-alsa is next to impossible. Nobody does it right. Nobody knows how it works. The gentoo docs suck. The alsa docs suck.

I might be interested as well, I've been looking for a way to set my USB card to be the default if it's connected.  |
