So how exactly does one monitor the health of a raid array. I was just putzing around in Webmin tonight and found a monitor for the raid array and when I set it up it is telling me that a Bad disk is detected. I havent noticed any degradation of performance. Is there any way to verify that what webmin is saying is correct? |

I assume you're using an MD RAID 5, so type
and see what it tells you. You can also do a dmesg.
If it is a hardware RAID controller, there are other things you can do.[/code] |

Kinda late but you may walso check into mdadm tools, it has a daemon mode that will email you if there is an issue too. _________________ Come and play in my land |

yes, mdadms interface is quite nice, and i think running some smart monitoring programm to check the drives status is a good idea too.
