I get this same error. It looks like it'd looking for a file in the portage tree that's not there. Maybe manually fetching the file and putting where it is supposed to go will work (except I don't know where to get it from).

I am updating my laptop at the same time (except it sync'd a few minutes later) and the laptop works fine.

My desktop just finished RE-emerging sync, and it is now working.

It appears we sync'd at a weird time, and the rsync server didn't have that file but it did have the ebuild for it.
