When I emerge kde I get error:

checking for Qt ... configure: error: Qt(>=Qt 3.3) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support.

What ebuilds are you using? I have had this problem with the cvs builds but not the regular ones. I think I may have solved it by recompiling QT with -opengl _________________ Esteem : Essays, Fiction, and News Commentary.
