emerge lyx hangs (gcc-issue?)

there's one special file, where gcc hangs while compiling lyx 1.3.5.

the file is in /src/frontends/qt2/Dialogs.C , only 1386 bytes and it takes 30 minutes before my main memory + swap is full.

i even tried compiling with -j1 -o1 - still the same file. gcc just hangs there.

i'm using
> gcc-config -c
i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.4

there's enough diskspace.

does anyone have any idea?
