Halt reboots instead of halting...

I have an intermittent problem that when I halt or press the power button and acpi halts, instead of powering off my computer just reboots. This seems to happen randomly, (e.g it happened just now after updating firefox, ooo and thunderbird - no system packages in other words) The first time it happened it just went away on it's own (?) but I would like to know what causes it -anyone?

Could be something wrong with the symlinks in /sbin perhaps?
