KDE on new installs

Just trying to wrap up some loose ends from other topics. I believe a new gentoo install from the current UT demo cd will not allow a KDE install due to problems detailed in other posts.


According to some posts, I just needed to emerge -u system and kde and qt and xfree will then build properly with the updated gcc. Can anyone confirm or deny this while I'm waiting for my laptop to crunch for a while longer?

I can confirm that emerge -u system does emiminate the ld.so errors in the kde build.

I did get another misc kde build error in kdemultimedia that was solved by updating the ._cfg0000XXX files in /etc generated by the emerge -u system.

With these two items all seems to be going well.
