hi,
i think i did everything quite according to protocoll, but something must have gone seriously wrong. i am too dumb for this world. when i do the genkernel thing, it complains that mke2fs isn't installed. in fact, this is true, and after successfully installing it (why do i have to do that?!), it turns out that mount is missing, too:
ext2fs_check_if_mount: No such file or directory while determining whether /var/tmp/genkernel/initrd
/usr/bin/genkernel: line 13: mount: command not found
any ideas how i can go on from here? oh, and reinstalling binutils (is that where mount is contained?) causes a warning that i should look at /tmp/portage/binutils-2.14.90.0.8-r1/work/binutils-2.14.90.0.8/ltconfig, but that warning is barely readable before it's gone, and the script doesn't tell me anything. and then, it's gone, too.
sorry, i am a little frustrated, but i will be greatful for any guess.

If you're having problems I'd suggest using the full handbook to do your install. It will step you through everything so you shouldn't run into these problems. |
