Hi all:
I am new to Linux and even more so to Gentoo so I have limited vocabulary regarding "instructions and comments" I have apache2, mysql and php installed and all seem to work okay; that is, I can do things with them. I installed phpWebSite because I did not want to hand code another wed site. Everything seemed to go well (after some trial and error). I can access phpwebsite with a browser and I get the welcome page, with the login request.
However, when I try the username and password I entered in the config.php file, nothing happens - the page just gives me a new login page. The same thing happens when I try the so-called "deity" username and password. I did the post-install setup as instructed for Gentoo (I even cheched what I did against the information in the /docs directory). In an effort to see if permissions was the problem, I changed the password in config.php to my normal Gentoo login password. After login with this password I received the message, "Unable to load the database indicated in the configuration file.
I have searched these forums and found a post with a similar problem but I was not able to determine how or if the problem was solved from the posted replies.
Hpoe this is understandable.
Thanks, gally66 _________________ Gentoo is complex but really works if you keep at it. |

Thank you for responding
Yes it is running, I have checked it bylisting databases and tables. I see the phpwebsite database I created "phpws" in the list, and it is populated with a number of tables, including USER. When I look at the USER table I see the record for my "deity" username but do not see the username I put in the config file.
