Seting up the Networks in/for Colinux running Gentoo

I have just installed a version of Colinux running Gentoo on my Windows XP machine. How do I set it up to run the network. I have it connecting to the TAP device by editing the xml file. Should I bridge my two networks?

Also how do I configure Gentoo to see my router (DHCP)?

Please note that I am new to Linux and so I may need more than a simple hint
