I just tried emerge sync; emerge -u world yesterday. It did not end well.
It was trying to compile ampd-3.2.1_p4 and I got these errors:
Code: | libtool: compile: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: compile: specify a tag with `--tag' |
Also, when I emerge jpeg (and possibly others I didn't notice), it doesn't compile the .so. The configure part lists this output:
Code: | checking if libtool supports shared libraries... no
checking whether to build shared libraries... no
checking whether to build static libraries... yes |
Is my libtool messed up?
I I recieved a message about changing /etc/make.profile to point to /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2004.2/ and did that. Is that part of my problem?
Also, is there a safer way to update a system than emerge -u world? I've tried it several times, and it usually has problems of some type. |

Doing an Code: | emerge --sync && ACCEPT_KEWYORDS="~amd64" emerge libtool && emerge ttmkfdir | worked for me. Basically, that just gets you the newest version of libtool. _________________ no software patents in europe! | adopt an unanswered post. |
