I have wine installed, and it's kind of working. Is it a lost cause to even try working with HL? It installed, but when I try to configure it or open a menu, the menu is underlayed behind the main menu (instead of put on top of it), and the main menu loses focus. Is there a way around this? I've looked at howtos but haven't had any success.
Thanks! |

Have you installed the latest Half-Life patch? I found that I had a similar problem even after the patch was installed, but it was still usable afterwards. _________________ "Subtraction: Addition's tricky pal." --David Letterman

I've tried both. I tried an untouched old GOTY cd fresh install...and then created a symlink to /mnt/hdc1/SIERRA/Half-Life.............same deal either way.
edit: that mounted partition is an old fully updated copy. |

Found a partial fix...not fullscreen, but add -win to the end to create half-life in window mode, and I can navigate through the windows! |

I'm getting the "the selected opengl mode is not supported" error in HL. Was that binary 32bit wine for amd64 ebuild compiled with Wine support?
Thanks.. |

the preview release is only available to so called emerald users, so an ebuild wouldnt be feasible. _________________ Intel Q6600, Asus P5N32-E SLI, Audigy2 ZS, Gainward 7950 |

yes, and now that I talked to one of my friends about this, he said something about the winex project making gentoo take it out of the portage tree. Stupid move. |

Why take it out of the tree? _________________ "Subtraction: Addition's tricky pal." --David Letterman
