I am getting some weird errors at bootup, and i believe it may be due to having both udev and devfs installed. I have no idea wich one i can safely keep and even how to uninstall the one i dont need (if that is the case) check out Dmesg:

I think your diagnostic is correct and it is a conflict between udev and devfs. You should boot from the LiveCD, chroot, and remove devfs support from the kernel (at least remove automount devfs on boot from it). Then rebuild the kernel, and install it (make sure to rerun lilo if you are using lilo for the boot manager). That should help clear up the problem.

I could do that.

Now by removing devfs...will that mess up my system? I am quite noob hehe and im quite nervous to make any changes!@!

appreciate your support :)

udev is the successor to devfs. devfs has been deprecated, and is no longer in development. udev takes its place and is much nicer to work with. You should be fine removing devfs. I am running my box on udev and have not had any issues.

Not sure how much luck had to do with this one. I have udev running entirely on multiple machines. Additionally, there are a number of others who have udev working flawlessly. It is slightly confusing in the begining though, I agree. I just read the howtos and random things from google a few times and that helped me out quite a bit.

Make sure that you have the proper filesystems built-in to the kernel. It is important that they are not built as modules. Additionally, ensure that you also have the fstools.
