|
|
Right now I have linux installed on my primary drive and Windows on the slave drive. I have tried searching for solutions but have yet to find anything that works.
This is the grub config that I thought should work:
Code: | Title=WindowsXP
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1
|
However, when I boot that grub just hangs and nothing happens. I have tried a few variations of this but have had no luck. Any input greatly appreciated. |

If you originally installed Windows on your first / only harddrive, then reconfigured it to be the second harddrive, GRUB's map command should do the trick.
If you originally installed Windows on your second harddrive, then installed Linux on the first harddrive, you may have deleted the Windows bootloader (which only installs itself on the first harddrive). This would make Windows unbootable, and you may need to reinstall Windows to fix this. |

Well, I put Windows into the master position when I did its installation. I can still boot windows if I put it into the master position. I'm not sure why that would work but then Grub wouldn't be able to. |

Well, I finally fixed this issue. If anyone has a similar issue, my problem was that the hd access mode in my bios was set to auto. This defaulted to CHS mode. Switching the access mode to LBA fixed the problem. |
