Hi all,

What's the best (easiest) way to change resolution in Xorg? Currently using E0.16.1.

Cheers,

xrandr is, generally speaking, a way for your desktop environment (session manager? display manager? I can never remember which is which) to be aware of resolution changes, and resize the desktop accordingly. The latest versions of Gnome and KDE are xrandr aware, and have GUI widgets not unlike the Windows "Display Properties" interface for changing resolution and color depth.

xrandr is much nicer to use than the control-alt key combinations, because the key combos don't change the virtual screen size. Among other things, this means that a drop to a lower resolution would force you to scroll to reach other areas of your desktop.

This is off topic, but does anyone know how to make KDE change the font size automatically with resolution changes??

Thanks,
