hello,
I bought a sata hd, I pluged in it and it is normally detected and it works.
The problem I have is that it disables an irq (irq18) and when my hd works my network doens't work.
All my irq are in available in my bios and I tested to pass some options to my kernel like acpi=off or pci=noacpi but always the same problem.
I put my boot msg here, If someone has an idea thanks _________________ Poah! |

Had the same problem with my Intel SATA ICH-5. Motherboard is an ASUS P4C800. It would kill everything and not even boot. The only solution i found is this:
If your BIOS has and option about enabling "Enhanced mode" for the IDE Controllers then enable it only for the SATA controller. Mine was by default
enabled for both. Disabling it altogether fixes the problem too, but it may cause issues if you dual-boot with "that thing that pretends to be an OS" aka Windowz...
