hi there,

my samba network used to work fine, but recently i'm having speed trouble. It only seems to happen when I want to write over the network.

When i copy a file using samba, the file trasnfert stalls on creating the file, then the downloading is fine (~4.1MB/s) and it stalls again when it comes to modify access right.

Has it happened to anybody else?

here is a screenshot where you can check my testparm's dump.
cheers

You know, smbclient connections from my laptop to a Windows box are very very slow as well. So far I've chalked it up to my wireless network connection, though things are still really slow even with 99% signal and I'm not even using WEP. Downloading from the intarweb seems just fine, while I have trouble even browsing Windows folders on another machine on my own LAN.

I haven't looked into it as deeply as you, but I'm definately seeing issues as well.

Hrm. I don't really want to downgrade my kernel, as I have it patched with a bunch of stuff. The bug report mentions that using cifs also addresses the problem. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Well, i was having trouble with 2.6.9xxx anyway, another known bug was affecting cdrecord so only root could burn.

A develloper was wondering about the behaviour of 2.6.10-r3. I might check it out one of those hours/days
[edit]this is related to my usb mass storage troubles[/edit]
