Ie
Heigth*Width*(BPP/8)*3 bytes?
If so - it's a pitty, cuz i've got only 4066k of video ram on my ATI Rage LT, and it's no good to run eighter 800x600, or 8bit 1024x768 on my 1024x768 laptop display :( Is there any way to get over it? I like all the proc of the COMPOSITE extension of X.Org, but it's damn slow without DRI... Maybe there's some way to speed it up without DRI? Generally i don't need 3d acceleration, only 2d... So maybe i can get over it by using something like xv, or maybe utah-GLX, or i dont know what else! I'm thinking of moving to XFBDirect... As there's accelerated frame buffer for Mach64 cards... But it lacks many things (for example touchpad support), so I DON't really want to use it! What's the reason for that 3 in formula? Does it correspond to triple buffering? If so - is it possible && reasonable to turn it off? Any advice is welcome!

Yep - i' d ask the question - which extension uses COMPOSITION extension of x.org? Does it work using DRI, or X-Video, or GLX? There should be someone, who knows it! X-video seems to be working with such cards with no triks...
