|
|
When I try to start ALSA with the init-script:
./alsasound start
(or during bootup) I get errors with bla/kernel/bla/snd.o - unresolved symbol strlcpy
and unresolved symbol vscnprintf
modprobe or insmod of course fail because of that.
I emerged alsasound, -headers, -drivers, and also activated sound in the kernel.
What can be wrong? |

Are you using kernel version 2.6.x? If you are, you don't need to install alsa-drivers. Just make sure and compile all sound support as modules then emerge alsa-utils. |

I reconfigured my kernel so that all sound support is done per module, that doesn't work either. |

Here's what I did:
I downloaded the driver source from www.alsa-project.org and compiled it manually.
In the end make reported errors so they wouldn't compile completely.
Nonetheless, the snd-via82xx.o module had been compiled, so I put it into kernel modules and then modprobed it.
That did the trick.
After restarting alsasound it reported no errors for the first time.
I could run alsamixer and unmute my sound and played sound in Gnome also. |
