Greetings,
I am setting up a Dell PowerEdge 700 with a Travan 40 IDE Tape Drive, and was wondering if any kind souls could direct me to the correct place(s) to get this information. I have already added the 'ide-scsi' as a module, but am wondering what the next steps should be.
Dell says this works under Redhat, but I do not want to use Redhat, as I enjoy Gentoo far too much.
Thank you,
Daryl |

To all,
Seeing as I am a dumbkopkf (idiot!), I should have done a little more research with a little less alcohol. Basically, getting the tape drive setup with a 2.4 kernel was ridiculously easy.
First off, compiled 'ide-scsi' into the kernel, as well as 'SCSI Tape Support". Added "hdX=ide-scsi" (where hdX is the IDE device, in my case, it was hdb. Then did an emerge of 'mt-st'. Everything appears to be recognized. No tapes to test with as of yet, but should that fail to work, then I will update. _________________ Daryl Jones
