Changed computer to P4

I've changed my pc to a P4 from my athlon system. All my software was compiled with march=athlonxp. Amazingly enough windows and linux still work perfectly without a hitch, but my question is since all my software was compiled with march=athlonxp would it be a good idea to reinstall gentoo, or will it make no difference to the performance of my system?

just change athlonxp to pentium4 in CFLAGS and emerge -e world
