Same problem here.

Temporary work around : Take "samba" out of your USE variable.

after i posted, i tried
Code:
emerge -uDv world
instead of
Code:
emerge -uDv --newuse world
and it worked fine.

the samba USE flag change would probably have worked too.

thanks!

sounds like a bug, has this been filed in bugzilla? Please supply the bug id.

btw, forums, IRC, usenet, and other unstructured text are not issue trackers. Bugzilla is a great bug tracker that allows querying for issues and status. 8)

I am trying to emerge mplayer-1.0_pre5-r4 and I get the same complaint.
I have removed samba from my USE flag and I expect this to work. But the original problem seems unresolved.

Code:
USE=-samba emerge -v mplayer

There was no bug when I checked... Which was just now.

Probably because you but -samba in your use flags? I experienced the same probelm, trying without samba this time.

I was having this problem then I found this bug today: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71515

In a nutshell it tells you to upgrade to samba-3.0.9, if you want to keep the samba integration. It's what I have done and it works just fine.

Hope this helps...
