If i recompile the kernel will it affect KDE? Or anything else for that matter?
added :
Also I never really checked, but when i use the commands for compiling my new kernel:
make dep && make bzImage modules modules_install
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/kernel-version
# cp System.map /boot/System.map-version
it will automaticlly replace my last compile, right?

Technically, no. Of course you could misconfigure the kernel so that certain modules will dissapear and therefore you'll have trouble starting your X server. Usually little changes to the kernel won't affect KDE. They're to separate entities. |

Recompiling the kernel shouldn't have any ill effect on programs within your system if it is done correctly. |
