Hi,
i am trying to install gentoo 2004.3 stage 1. We boot the gentoo kernel off the cd and it finds the card and loads the module (8139too) , but it wont talk to my router. I tried net-setup eth0 and told it to use dhcp, but it wont pick up an ip address.
Any ideas ??, i am tearing my hair out !
Thanks

try at commoand promt
#modprobe r8169
and work off dhcp by uncommenting the following
iface_eth0="dhcp"
make sure everything else in /etc/conf.d/net is commented out with a # if I remember correctly one of the ip lines is uncommented by default so double check. _________________ iain |
