Hello, I'm trying to run Morrowind with cedega 4.1 (subscriber version).
Transgaming says it has playable rating of 4, but i can't even start it...

Looking on the forums, i discovered that i have to run it in morrowind "window mode", but it doesn't worked at all.. :(

This is the exit:
Code:

ashura@ashetic Morrowind $ cedega  Morrowind.exe

I had a simliar problem. I believe the solution is on a recent thread on these boards; the problem lies with Cedega and the 2.6.9 and maybe 2.6.8 kernels. I will search for that thread and get back to you.

Or maybe I'm wrong...

:)

If the game crashes every once in a while, rest assured that this is the games fault, not Cedega's. (it does this in Windows too) Just save fairly often and you'll be fine.

If the program gives you trouble starting up again after a crash, try these commands if you don't want to reboot:

Code:

killall wine wineserver

Do that until you get a message that says:
Code:

wine: no process killed
wineserver: no process killed

If you don't get those messages, try this command:

Code:

killall -9 wine wineserver

If the game doesn't start back up after that, then you need to reboot.

The game sometimes freezes during the movies, so try skipping them with escape.

If you want things to run a little faster, try a no CD executable from Game Copy World

Again, save often. The thing crashes unexpectedly.

What class graphics card do you have? If you have a Geforce FX or higher, then you can enable pixel shaders, which enable a really nice watter effect.

The plugin dialog and the editor have trouble rendering text, but I think the game is pretty functional other than that. If you save often you should be fine. :)

Unfortunatly, while this card supports the directX version of pixel shader that is used on Windows, Transgaming's Cedega uses a more advanced OpenGL equivilant to render the same thing. The result is a higher system requirment to do the same task. The Geforce FX and higher class cards support this OpenGL program.

I have a Geforce 4 TI 4200 64MB, which has the same features as your card. I am in the market for a new card, and am currently set on getting the Geforce 6600 GT, which has all the new DirectX 9.0c features and is essencially the same card as the 6800 GT, but with half the pipelines. This card is an incredible steal at $200, but it is currently avalible in PCI Express right now. The AGP version is scarce right now, so I'm afraid that there are only a couple out there right now. I will be waiting until December 7th, when Transgaming supports Half Life 2.

Here is the pricewatch listing for the card. As I said, the selection is low and the price is high, so I would wait if you want to buy:

You're welcome. Yes, I have Windows XP installed as well, but I really hate booting into it. (Windows Update minimizing your games, anybody? )

See, but with Windows, sure, maybe I can disable update... but there will always be something there to harass me. One day it could be update, another day it could be windows messenger, and another it could be the desktop cleanup wizard.
