Ciao a tutti, ekko l'n-simo problema. A scuola mi capita che quando lancio lo screensaver il pc non compila piu. Mi spiego meglio, ho lanciato l'emerge della ksh, ho lanciato lo screensaver (che mi permette di bloccare il pc => password) e sono andato via per 1 ora, una volta tornato non aveva ancora finito! Sapete aiutarmi? grazie mille

E' possibile che lo screensaver che usi utilizzi molti cicli di CPU e per questo motivo la compilazione viene rallentata di molto _________________ Registered as User #281564 and Machines #163761 |

Puoi anche provare a scegliere come screen-saver lo schermo nero...
Altrimenti cambia il valore di "nice" di xscreensaver, rendilo + "gentile" _________________ I can resist anything but temptation.

Bom ma non capisco come uno screensaver possa ammazzare la cpu.. Ho su xlock e lo screensaver matrix

Lancia lo screen saver e da console guarda con top (lo screen saver non dovrebbe bloccare le console) _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Lo screensaver potrebbe usare tanti cicli di clock e rallentare di *molto* la compilazione. _________________ Registered as User #281564 and Machines #163761 |

Connettendomi da casa a scuola e dando il comando "top" ho visto che X usava il 96 % di cpu e il povero seti@home solo il 3% .. avete ragione... Non pensavo però potesse succedere una cosa del genere, hehe! Grazie di tutto |

Io ho notato che alcuni screensavers (xscreensaver) quando eseguiti in anteprima (xscreensaver-command -prefs) mi si mangiavano tutta la CPU (senza top, semplicemente guardando CPU Monitor sul pannello di XFCE), mentre ce ne sono altri che sono meno "esigenti" e occupano una frazione veramente minima del CPU time.
Per cui la mia soluzione, senza ricorrere al blankscreen, è stato di disattivare tutti quelli che si magnavano troppa CPU e lasciare solo quelli meno esigenti
Cmq una buona idea sarebbe anche di mettere al minimo la niceness del processo: in tal caso sono sicuro che la compilazione verrebbe pivilegiata allo screensaver _________________ Taglia
