Multi site VPN setup

I just got a call from a client who wants to setup a point of sale system in his two shops. One is much larger than the other and already has internet access and a server on site, the other is smaller with no internet or server onsite. The server I put in is a Gentoo server running Samba, which works brilliantly, 128 days uptime and was last taken down to shift it.

If my client got highspeed internet in his second store, how hard would it be to setup a VPN so his POS machine in the smaller store can access the Samba shares on the remote server? What software would I use?

All client machines run Windows XP

I would suggest openvpn with bridging
