arma,

videodev is loaded by bttv, you don't need to modprobe it.
It already has major 81.
Do
Code:
ls -al /dev/v4l
to see the major and minor numbers.
There is nothing wrong, your TV card should work

arma,

My lsmod shows
Code:
videodev               10240  1 bttv
which means that videodev is being used by bttv. I didin't do anything to load videodev. I added bttv to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 and it just worked.

Do
Code:
lsmod | grep video

arma,

Thats a good thought. Heres my use flags from
Code:
emerge --info
so thats everything, no matter where they are set.

Code:
USE="3dnow 3dnowex X aalib alsa apache2 avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt  cups dga directfb dnd doc dv dvd dvdr encode esd f77 faad fam fbcon fbdev ffmpe g flac foomaticdb fortran gb gdbm ggi gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 g tkhtml guile imagemagick imlib jack java jikes jpeg ldap libg++ libwww mad maild ir mbox md5sum mikmod mmx mmx2 motif mozilla mpeg music mysql nas ncurses nls no cardbus nptl nvidia oggvorbis opengl oss pam parse-clocks pdflib perl pic png pp ds python qt quicktime readline scanner sdl slang sox speex spell sse ssl svga t cltk tcpd tetex tiff transcode truetype usb v4l vim-with-x wmf x86 xine xml xml2  xmms xv xvid zlib zvbi"
To find out more about them, try ufed.
Code:
emerge ufed
