Hi there
Here's another funny one, which I hope is correct in this forum (since it concerns both multimedia and GUI-configuration...):
I enabled sounds within GNOME (in the preferences menu).
Now, GNOME does not start any more. When I issue a "startx", I can see the GNOME splash screen with the x-shaped mouse cursor - and that's it.
I already searched through xorg.0.log - but nothing there seems unusual (no errors and few warnings, but none concerning sound).
I use a kernel 2.6 with ALSA and and emu10k1 built in as module; the modules are loaded correctly during startup...
I found the following lines within .gnomerc-errors:
ALSA lib lcm_hw.c:1155:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: no such file or directory
And then
Esound failed to start.
Help!
