Posted: Fri Nov 26, 2004 8:53 pm Post subject: Additional ReiserFS paritions don't mount a boot [Solved] |
|
|
I just did a new 2004.3 install with the following drive config
/dev/hda1 -> /boot ext2
/dev/hda2 -> ntfs
/dev/hda3 -> /mnt/windows fat32
/dev/sda1 -> /usr ReiserFS
/dev/sda2 -> /var ReiserFS
/dev/sda3 -> /tmp ReiserFS
/dev/sda5 -> swap
/dev/sda6 -> / ReiserFS
my /boot mounts as well as /mnt/windows and / but all other ReiserFS formatted paritions (/usr /var /tmp) do not. I get a kernel does not support that format error message at runtime. I can mount them all manaully once rooted and booted perferctly fine. dmesg gives nothing informative... I'll post my /etc/fstab in a moment....

# noatime turns off atimes for increased performance (atimes normally aren't

# NOTE: If your BOOT partition is ReiserFS, add the notail option to opts.

# NOTE: The next line is critical for boot!
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
# glibc 2.2 and above expects tmpfs to be mounted at /dev/shm for
# POSIX shared memory (shm_open, shm_unlink).
# (tmpfs is a dynamically expandable/shrinkable ramdisk, and will
# use almost no memory if not populated with files)
# Adding the following line to /etc/fstab should take care of this:
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

Replace all of your "ReiserFS" entries with "reiserfs", and it should work. |

You need to change all of the lines with ReiserFS to reiserfs. That should work, since this file is case-sensitive.
Hope this helps

all *Nix operating systems are case sensitive unlike windows. I am sure you could not have got it to work capitalized.. sometimes the simplest of all things bug you out... been there.. |
