Hi guys,
I just emerged quake3 and it wont run at all - cant figure out why its complaining about a default.cfg file
Here is the output when I run it - anyone got an idea on what I need to do after I emerge quake3

You need to copy the pak0.pk3 file from your quake3 cd (/mnt/cdrom/baseq3/pak0.pk3 I believe) to /opt/quake3/baseq3. Another option, and what I do to make it easier if I ever reinstall, is keep a copy of the pak0 file on my data partition, and just link to it. You could also do this if you already have a windows install.

oh - i thought this was a ready to go demo.
I dont have a quake3 CD - guess it means you need to buy the Linux version of Quake3 first.... |

Well, if you're only interested in the demo, check around the net for the download, then take the pak0.pk3 file from that, I would guess. Also, you don't necessarily need to buy a linux version if you already have the windows one - not that you shouldn't by linux-native games Speaking with your wallet and letting the game companies know that we're out here is never a bad thing. _________________ Linux User #223670 |
