hallo 
Ich habe mir am WE ein Gentoo Stage1 auf gesetzt,
ich habe folgendes in meine make.conf eingetragen:

Ich benutze einen AMD 2400+ habe ein epox NF2 sowie 1024 MB ram
so viel zu meiner hardware, nun zu meinem Problem.
setze ich ein emerge an oder mache ich andere groessere dinge wie das kopieren groesserer dateien via scp ( 500 mb & groesser) geht mein echner TOTAL in die kniee, was soviel hiest wie das die maus plötzich hackelt, manchmal fuer fast 30 sec nicht zu bewegen ist usw,
was habe ich falschgemacht bzw wo habe ich mich verkonfiguriert?
ich hoffe ich habe euch die noetigen informationen gleich zur verfuegung gestellt! Wenn nich schreit ich liefer as far as i can

Hallo sceptiq,
ist nur ein Schuß ins Blaue, aber hast Du bei Deiner HD den DMA modus an?
hdparm -tT /dev/hd?
Schau mal welches Ergebnis da geliefert wird.

joa das mit dem dma is mir dann auch noch eingefallen, und prompt steht es natuerlich auf "off"...
wafuer steht "PORTAGE_NICENESS=10" also was bewirkt es?

emerge bekommt damit kürzere Zeitscheiben zugeteilt, womit häufiger mal andere Sachen (wie Mausbewegungen) erledigt werden können. Wirkt nur auf Portage, bei anderen Sachen kannst du aber nice benutzen, wenn sie zu gefräßig sind.

aehm jop problem gelöst, es lag am dma hatte die nvidia sache nich mit in den kernel gebaut nu tuts --danke--
