A while ago i found a rather intresting comitt to X.org. You can read it on http://freedesktop.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/xorg/xc/ChangeLog?rev=1.168&view=markup
Quote: | Support for New radeon chips:
R420/M18, R423, RV370/M22, RV380/M24, RS300. |
It is rather old (from Jul), but it still raises the question if ATI has freed the 3D drivers for their newer graphics cards. Is this correct, or is this just a link to the binary driver, a fix for 2D or completly unrelatet to r300 at all?
Hope someone can help me, since I am about to buy a new computer and unable to read the source myselt for at least 3 weeks.
Sincerly

No, ATI hasn't opened anything, this just means that X.org now has basic (2D) support for those cards. _________________ aaarggghhhh.
