Hi there. First I'd like to (finally) take the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all the people involved in this excellent distribution! Ever since I switched to gentoo from mandrake three years ago, I haven't really looked back and I've learned more about gnu/linux than I could have imagined.
In fact, I've learned so much that at some point I started to feel like I could give back something by answering forum posts and then by dropping by in #gentoo helping new users. And this is my question... I see myself as an intermediate user, not a noob but not a real expert either, but more expert than newby. So still, occasionally I would make mistakes or give wrong answers. What is the opinion of the gentoo devs/support crew on this? Is IRC support reserved for some specific "official" gentoo folks or can anyone just go there and answer questions? Is it important to be present at fixed times or is any help wanted, regardless how frequent one shows up? Well, I think you get the idea.
Cheers,

Anyone can help answer questions in #gentoo, there is no requirement to be a developer, nor to be active at certain times. If you are unsure of something, just say so, even some of the regulars get things wrong sometimes _________________ www.gentoo.org.au || #gentoo-au |
