Hi,
I want to use my Avaya Wireless Card with kismet software but when I launch
iwpriv I don't see the monitor mode support. That means that the driver
doesn't allow that. In the kismet README, it says that from February 2004
the driver that comes with the kernel has monitor mode support. I tried both
the driver that comes with my current kernel (2.6.9-gentoo-r6) and the
external orinoco driver (emerge orinoco) but I get the same error from
kismet (monitor mode not supported).
My question is: Is there anyone out there using kismet with this wireless
card and this kernel? If so, can you tell me what you did to get it working?
-Thanks. |

You need to patch the orinoco and hermes modules with patches available from the Kismet web site. Make sure you are using the patch for the 2.6.9 kernel. A different patch is used for the pre-2.6.9 kernel. Pretty clear instructions are available on the site.

It was that. I had to apply the patches first. Now it works like a charm.
Thanks and sorry to answer so late but I didn't read this til somedays ago.
Thanks. |
