Can any one help me with this. i have tried 2004.2 and i get the same error. I'm building the system from a running Gentoo system on another harddrive instead of using a boot disk. is that the problem? |

I guess i should have done a better job searching, sorry about the poor forum etiquet. I will look in to this, but if anyone else has any ideas let me know. I guess i just don't understand why this would do this on a new install.
EDIT: also if i disable the sandbox does it need to be enabled? I assuming for best practices it needs to be. If some one could enlighten me on this that would be great. Thanks for your time |

There's an alternative installation guide somewhere on the Gentoo pages. Is your method of install included in that guide?
Generally speaking, you can sync Portage with or without sandbox enabled. |

Thanks for the help Starcub. Well i got frustrated yesterday and just used knoppix to install it. I will check that alternative installation guide and check if the way i was trying to install was supported just for reference. |
