First, I don't want aRts... don't like it. So in my USE flags I have "-arts". I am trying to emerge karamba-0.17-r1.

When I go to emerge karamba, it errors out during the ./configure portion with the message:
Quote:
configure: error: The important program mcopidl was not found! Please check whether you installed aRts correctly.

Well I know I did not install aRts correctly, because I had the -arts USE flag set when I installed QT. There is also an effective flag on karamba that allows you to compile karamba without aRts support.

What gives? Will I have to install aRts?

You could modify the ebuild so that it includes the "without arts" compiler flag. Otherwise, you'll have to submit a bug to the ebuild author and ask him to fix it.

That's the price you pay when you use experimental options not supported by KDE.

This is easy:

emerge it this way:

myconf=--without-arts emerge karamba

Hopefully the Author implemented myconf Var ;-) then it'll work.

best regards

Compilation without arts isn't officially supported by KDE. If you don't want arts, just compile it anyways and don't use it. Problem solved.

You should try using superkaramba anyway over regular karamba. Superkaramba has been more recently updated.
