I am using gentoo-2.6.9-r6 and I have installed Gentoo before and I am pretty much a Linux and Gentoo geek but when I went into make menuconfig /dev file system support was gone. How can I fix this because Gentoo demands /dev last time I checked.

You sure you're looking in the right place? I just did a quick check and it's still there.

With 2.6 you should be using UDEV. devfs is depricated and will be removed in the future.

Code:
emerge udev

ones userspace (udev) the other is kernelspace (devfs). Udev is more customisable also.
