This one shouldn't be too hard, but I can't find the option in KDE! All my new windows pop up in the most highly calculated INCONVIENIENT spot possible.
This must be using muchas CPU in order to read my mind and find where I wanted it to go the least.
Please... help! I just want them in the damn center of the screen!
Also, can/how do I switch WM's? Does KDE allow this? I haven't found anything.
Thanks |

I think the closest you can get to window positioning is at Look&Feel->Window Behaviour->Moving tab. You can set the placement to Smart, Cascade or Random. With the default Smart placement the window is placed over the least used portion of the screen. So if you have a small patch of clear desktop the window will get placed over that section of the screen and I doub't the calculation would take much cpu time
Not sure about changing window managers. |

Changing window manager depends on how you start kde.
It is done the same way, just to different files.
If you use startkde, then edit /usr/kde/3.1/bin/startkde, find the line that says:
kwin &
subsitute kwin with the name of your favourite window manager and give it a go.
I can not gurantee that all the functionality in KDE will work, but it may be enough for you.
