How come playing oggs and mp3s in mp3blaster and xmms take no CPU time (checked through top) but playing the same files using ogg123 and mpg321 take up around 1%-2.5% constantly? _________________ Folding@home -Join the Linux team (163)! |

I'm not sure, just a theory. But I had the same experience with ogg123 mpg321 which took some cpu time, comparing to mplayer which always took none. But that was after mplayer was compiled with mmx etc. flags. So my theory was/is that ogg123 and mpg321 do not use these kind of processor extensions. _________________ only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars |
