I just set up ALSA on my Gentoo box, running with Gnome. However, the sound is horrible. When I try to move a window or even move the mouse the sound gets all scratchy. Even when I leave it alone it skips a bit. I have heard that this has something to do with X, but am not quite sure. Some kind of buffer setting maybe? How do I go about adjusting this? |

My sound card is an M Audio Delta 44. I am using ALSA version 1.0.6. I get the scratchiness in XMMS and Rhythmbox, and when watching video in Mplayer. I am using kernel 2.4.26-r12, and Xorg. |

I've also have had the problem. The solution was to set the audiosink of gstreamer to esdsink. You can do this in the gconf-editor. The settings of gstreamer are under the category system. |
