hi there....
i have a confusing problem with en IBM eServer xSeries 225
i compiled the system by using the live-cd (2004.2) all went fine...
i have build:

the machine runs fine...but i can't compile anything (only a few small packages) i get every time i want compile an segmentation fault.
i know where seg.faults depend normaly...but i don't think it in these case because with live-cd and memtest86 all looks good.
i have recompiled gcc glibc for 2 times now with no result
any sugestions?

Maybe try changing O3 to O2 in your cflags and see if that makes a difference. |

Also, you might want to try recompiling gcc. If you can't do it directly, use the livecd. |

We were having the same problems on the e-server. Tracked it down to the kernel. Try using development-sources instead of gentoo-dev-sources. (if you're using 2.6, which sounds like you are). Once we recompiled the kernel from development-sources everything started compiling again. :) _________________ wrecked it again... |

ok... i will test now to switch to development-sources. if it fails i will switch to O2 instead of O3...
i hope i get it this week...

now i have switched to development-sources...
@doonkel -> i dont have 3dnow in my use-flags....but i dont have set USE="-*" too.... if i run in problems with that i will change that....
@stolen -> now i have emerged apache php and webmin....c-compiler looks good!
