I'd like to know if the Intel processors (in my case dual Xeon EMT64) are compatible with the amd64 distribution of gentoo. Those processors are supposed to be more or less 'compatible' with the set of instructions of the amd64 processors, unless I am completty wrong
Actually, it's quite hard for me to find accurate information due the confusion between emt64 and itanium processors.
So, can I install the amd64 gentoo distribution?
Is there any well known issue? |

Well it *should* work but its still in testing.

It should work if you use gcc 3.4.x (i.e. Gentoo 2004.3), because unlike gcc 3.3.x, that has a special flag for EM64T. Other than that, I see no reason for it not to work. _________________ HOWTO: Removing disks from an LVM volume |
